Mottura Champions C38 Cutaway

Postby ImSchatten360 » Fri Jan 20, 2012 6:35 pm

Hello,

I have a second Mottura cutaway which I would like to share as well (only pictures :D ).
This lock has 6 active pins and a few passive pins.
The first four active pins are nothing special.
The last one gets activated by the little active element in the key tip.
Same idea as the Dom floating ball.
The fifth one interacts with a magnetic element in the key.
It seems like the pin is magnetic as well because it can be lifted with the tip of the pick.

"I picked it upside down to avoid the need of a magnetized pick." FAIL  Just kidding.

Picked this one as well:

Well, I can pick it if it's installed US style :D

Just saw your video, congrats for the opening. Still can't understand how could you lift the magnetized pin without a magnet. If memory serves me correct, my pick doesn't lift it :( I'll look for it in my toy-box to play again...

Cheers :)

I have a whole bunch of tiny magnets that I bought in case I have to pick locks with magnetic elements.
But somehow I dont need them.
I tried to lift the magnetic pin with my pick on the cutaway side and it worked.
It seems like there is something magnetic in the pin as well.

The Gera 6500mc also has a magnetic element in the key.
Some fellow lockpicker told me that in older versions of this lock the corresponding pin is not magnetic at all.
So you cant just lift it with a regular pick.
But in never version it is.
So for some reason they have changed it.
Maybe this is the same with the C38.

Cheers
