Guri Padlock

Hello,

I have a bunch of those padlocks with a quite unique mechanism.
They were probably made by Guri even though the padlocks have no marking at all.
(I have a Guri padlock with the same mechanism).
As far as I know they are not produced anymore but they where quite common in the GDR.
Because I got a bunch I thought it might be a good idea to open one to see how the mechanism works.

Interesting! I was wondering how those worked.

Given that there's no risk of over-lifting any of the "levers", and no false gates, it looks like it should be a pretty easy pick: looks like you could tension the lever pack by slipping something in next to the shackle on the right-hand side, and then just lift every lever until in binding order until it opens.

It looks like the levers are all raised the same distance -- and it's just the location of the "peak" on the lever that determines the key biting -- so an appropriately-sized half-diamond or S-rake could probably make quick work of it.

It is definitely not high security but it is unique and after a pin tumbler picking session it is always fun to mess with something else
