Hey Rhyno, I live in Rye, maybe we can go together, if it's still up and running, that is.
If it's not, would you like to catch up for a bite to eat and drink, and pick some locks?
PM me.

My mistake with the tpyo. NE, not SE.
I'm in Ivanhoe.
I used to work in Ivanhoe.
Started my apprenticeship with Ivanhoe Locksmiths in 1983.
They were in Seddon St, opposite the Church/school.
Not there anymore.
They had moved round the corner into Upper H'berg Rd bout 10 doors down from that private girls school.....the one with the smokin hot chicks.
sorry to change subject....just lotsa memories in Ivanhoe.
One One was a race horse, one one won one race, one two was a racehorse, one two won one too.

So you would know Terry Walker then. Or perhaps he was before your time. globallockytoo wrote:meat-bix wrote:Evening is fine too :0)

oops... I just remembered it may be illegal for me to leave my house with my picks in QLD... maybe a Bris based meet is not a great idea lol...
Although I am pretty sure one has to "have intent to commit a crime" as well as have picks.

Well, the only thing you have to worry about than is proving you did not have an intent to commit a crime- which is impossible really. Having the items on you can be construed as enough so called "intent" Its a catch 22. Thats why I never did go to any of the locksport meets in my area, or host- even thou I was asked.. at least 20 times. I weighed the 2 options and found it just was not worth it. Would I attend a meet? Sure, but I would not host/organize one. But thats just me, and the laws in Canada are a bit screwy- more so for me. (career) same with a few of my other hobbies, I just participate from an armchair now.

I'm lead to believe that GadgetsDirect are just the same people as DealExtreme.
Anything you purchase will most likely come from China anyway, that nothing is actually in stock here in Australia.

If u are locksmith there are some dino picks going for sale on locksmith trader. I tried buying some from there but not possible. My recommendation (like all the other replies relating to ordering to Australia on this forum) is to buy from lockpicks.com or something similar. I would prefer lockpicks.com because on their customs dec they say "hand tools" rather than "locksmith tools". You could buy the 9 piece from Dealextreme and risk them shipping bent, broken or with parts missing. But for 5.95 you can't really go wrong there. Anyway yeah. Don't bother going with gadgets direct. Its a pretty big rip off. If you must buy one of those sets go with dealextreme. If you want high quality go with lockpicks.com, lockpickshop.com or something similar Good luck!

Hi guys,
I live in Melbourne, and I'm about as new to this game as it's possible to be. I got a pickset today. I'd bought the cheapest pin-tumbler nightlatch and padlock I could from Bunnings - resisting the temptation to buy Lockwood - and (to my amazement and delight) I had the nightlatch open in about a minute and the padlock in about 2 minutes!
Anyway, although I'm obviously a rank novice, I've read as much as I can, and I'm eager to meet some people from whom I can learn, and hopefully progress to better quality locks. Is the Melbourne group still meeting?
