HELLO,
I AM NOT NEW TO THE LOCKSMITH TRADE BUT AM DISALLUSIONED.
AFTER ATTENDING A5 DAY COURSE AND SETTING UP ON MY OWN I HAVE REALISED THAT YOU CANNOT EXPECT TO SURVIVE IN THIS INDUSTRY WITHOUT SPENDING HEAVILY ON ADVERTISING AND SPENDING HEAVILY ON TOOLS,STOCK,MORE TRAINING,VEHICLE,INSURANCES,FUEL ETC..
SUB-CONTRACT WORK IS DRYING UP AND THERE ARE SO MANY NEW LOCKSMITHS COMING INTO THE MARKET PLACE THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SURVIVE.
I AM DESPERATELY LOOKING TO GET MORE EXPERIENCE AND TO POSSIBLY WORK DIRECT WITH ANY LOCKSMITHS OR COMANYS OUT THERE IS THERE ANY ONE OUT THERE THAT COULD HELP..

sorry new locksmith but i cant help you. i can tell you a little about myself though. i recently suffered from sever injuries to both my hands and lost use of them for a while. my doctor told my to pick a new trade or hobbie that involves my using my hands in fine small motor movements. my ego was not having sewing or knitting next thing i know i am ordering a lock pick set and trying to pick every lock in the house. i opened my first lock last week now there is only one lock in my house i cant seem to pick. the key space is just so tiny, i cant really work the pick without setting the pins too high
anyways, i'm new here and looking to learn as much as possible
advice, tips, and just general chat are great!

I'm super new to all this, and figured I'd just say hello. I'm a trained jeweller, and figured this might be a fun little add-on to my skills. And much easier to learn than clock-making (something else I'd like to learn).

Hey all,

I'm really new to all of this, but I'm really quite excited about picking locks. There's something about the methodology about the whole process that's challenging and rewarding at the same time. I guess I'm just suited for it, or maybe not.

I look forward to learning more on this board -- it certainly seems top-notch.

HELLO to all! I'm new, lurked a little and haha yesterday - PICKED my 1st lock via a friend's request to remove an annoying Kryptonite $119 EV Lock/chain from his fence. Someone had locked on with a walmart bike and abandoned.... What tool did the MAGIC trick of removing this 10lb chain and lock? BIC anyone? Yep the old BIC pen trick WORKED the 1st try! And now the *coughhabitcough* er hobby has started. Hope I can pick more! THanks all... :lol:

Hey, I'm interested in lock picking as a hobby. I remembered a thing I saw on tv once about lockpicking when my stepdad locked us out of my shop on accident (of course, all the tools to break in were inside :oops:

)when we had lost the key for it a long time ago. Of course, the offending lock has been replaced, but I vow that one day, I shall pick it (not going so well now though :wink:

). So I researched a bit on the internet, and lo and behold, this site was #1 on google.
