Insurance in the US - holy crud...

Postby wraith » Sat Nov 05, 2005 3:46 pm

For the last week i've been submitting applications with a few roadside assistance companies to handle thier lockouts. I hit a major snafu though because one of the biggest companies won't let me be a vendor unless I have a general liability policy with minimum coverage of $1M. I was floored!

I called my insurance company and a few others asking for coverage, and was basically told that they could cover the locksmith side of my business, but wouldn't cover the roadside assistance side.

The irony is that I already have a bond for the locksmithing side of my business, so insurance isn't necessary...

Any suggestions?

.

You think that's bad? For a $50,000 coverage of Cash in Transit work, my insurance is around $450 a month.

Yes, that's because it's a CASH rating! $50,000 is enough to get people to kill for it, so the prices are high.

I'd also be interested if anyone has something useful to comment here.

"Cash" includes cash, notes, negotiable instruments, cheques, postal notes, post office money orders, negotiable securities, stamps, credit card sales vouchers, instant lottery tickets, bus or transport tickets, telephone credit cards or franking machine credits.

You have no idea how often I walk around with $50,000 in bus tickets. No idea. And... oh yes... what exactly is a franking machine? Sounds to me like something that makes hotdogs.

It's a machine that allows you to pay for your postage without using stamps or other forms of postal payment.
