Reduced feedback lock

Postby dls » Sun Apr 17, 2011 5:56 am

Is there any way to reduce the feedback a picker would get from a lock through his pick.
Could a series of very powerful magnets be placed in the keyway to cause errors with steel picks.
Or strong side pins to press the pick into the wards in the keyway for example.
How about a couple of two piece bottom pins with a strong spring in the middle to make a set pin feel like its still moving. :?:

Another idea just came to me the top pin could be made like a multilock top pin with an inner and outer pin both independently sprung with a standard bottom pin.
The bottom pin and center top pin would act as a normal pin stack and the top outer pin would act as a moveable sheer line.
when picking the bottom pin could set on the outer top but would appear not to be set as it would remain sprung even when correctly set.
This of course would probably not cause to much of a problem to a competent and experienced picker with knowledge of the lock design and all the time they need to do it but may reduce someones ability to impression as correctly set pins would not bind hard on the blank.
