Extra Pin to Lock the Cylinder When Picked

Postby Chronos » Fri May 06, 2011 5:13 pm

I had a thought for a security measure against picking. What if, about 30-40 degrees past the standard set of driver pins, there was one extra driver pin that would lock in place if it were to enter the cylinder. The idea being that if you use a key on the lock the extra driver won't enter the cylinder, but if one was picking the lock the extra driver would be imperceptible until it had locked into place.

Just a thought...

That would work. But it has allready been invented, its called trap pin.

I´ve got an Assa that effectively locked itself so I had to drill out the pin.

Thanks for that information, very cool! I knew it was too easy of an idea to have not been done already...
