DIY vibrating cleaner

Postby Twisted T » Mon May 28, 2012 12:15 pm

Back when I was airbrushing I would have to clean my airbrush parts and using
a sonic like device is good for cleaning small parts.
So if you need a cheap and easy way to clean lock parts
here ya go.
First get whatever cleaning fluid you prefer and pour it into
a can or whatever you have.
Now you'll need an electric sander we called them jitter bugs.
Take your can with the cleaner and small parts in it and set it on the
sander and you now have a sonic cleaner. After which your parts come out nice
and shiny. BTW to buy one of these sonic cleaners you can expect to pay as much as
$200.00 for it. Any vibrating sander will work NOTE: Do Not let go of the can while
the sander is on. Need I say more?

I saw this on another forum but they turned the sander upside-down and built a little box around it so the parts cleaner didn't need to be held.

Whatever works for you!! The general idea was to have the can on the side for sanding
thus creating the sonic effect.

Yes, the side for sanding is facing up with the can on top of the sanding surface. How else would it work?

I got mine at a garage sale... $5.00

Sonic jewelry cleaner... about 3"X3" enough for plenty of parts, or one padlock..

Also useful to clean the print head on my Epson.

If you use solvents, just get a metal bin to fit inside... or a Coke can.

Matter of fact... use COKE... cleans the hell out of almost anything, just rinse well after.
