Case for your picks

I have a case that I use for my picks and wrenches it began it's life as
a precision tool set. Originally it had small tools like side cutters needle nose pliers
and other tools. Over time things have gotten misplaced and so now it's being used as
a case for lock picks. It's a bi-fold case with a lot of individual places for picks and other tools. So the next time you're at a store like Dollar General or one of those
dollar store types look in the tool section for one of these kits. I can't Recall if it
came from Dollar General or Big Lots any way check it out.

What keeps the picks from sliding out of one end? I really like the look of the case. I only use a few picks so don't need much capacity. I generally carry other tools with my picks such as a Kwikset tool, Simplex wrench and key, plug spinner etc. I like the idea of a roll up case for my safe change keys too.

also, check out some of the mini-tool rolls sold for dockyard carving tools. they're made out of canvas or denim, and some hold up to 20 tools.

I actually know my way around a sewing machine pretty well. Anyways, I am thinking about making fold-up/roll-up canvas (or something similiarly durable) pick set cases. Does anybody have any patterns? I'm sure I could whip one up easy like, but I figured I'd ask.

Many tools come in cases that will work well enough, though most of the time they are very cheap. Needle files are another good place to look.

I don't like the leather cases that most pick companies offer, I have a handful of them that Ive won in competitions, but I've never really used them. I just keep extra tools in them in my box.

If im just carrying the most basic things (4tensions, 1 hook, 1 rake) I just stick them in my multi-tool belt-holster, but yesterday I made a roll up pouch for a slightly more complete kit. Its made of Tyvek (great material, just used a priority mail envelope) sewn with no pattern, just measured things and went from there. It works well and looks nice enough, but isn't rigid enough for my tastes, If/when I make a new one I will sew in a more stiff insert, just a piece of cereal box cardboard sandwiched between tyvek would better define the shape when closed I think.

Also if you are thinking about making something like this. using a sewing machine is easy. if you can pick a lock, you can use a sewing machine.

Nice creative cases! I recently picked up a Sherman case from Sparrows and I am very impressed, its huge and built like a Sherman Tank!

What are the dimensions of that case (closed)? I can't seem to find it on their website...

The "Sherman" is about 6 7/16" tall, 3 7/8" wide and about 1" thick. I looked on their website and did not see it either. I guess you could always shoot them and email.
