i dont know if its my grinder or hacksaw blades, but its really hard to grind, it just takes so long to get it to a blank form to start actually shaping it

if you force it to grind faster then the metal burns and you have to cool it down so i dont do that either, this is why i dont make alot of my picks, buying them seems so much easier :wink:

for me..im the opposite i guess. for me to have all the info, size, scale, styles of templates available. i find it really hard for me to want to buy it if i can make it.

but in a way you can just use the time picking locks with the picks you bought instead of making

either way it can be satifiying

I think they were 300 DPI, so that makes them about 5 inches long IIRC.

I know what you speaking of, I have found that certain hacksaw blades will do that. The higher the carbon the better for grinding and shaping. The bi-metal does not grind or shape as good.

I don't know which you use for pick making, but I would suggest getting a few varieties of them and try them out.

Since many people seems to have trouble printing the templates to the right size, I made a PDF with the most common pick templates already in size. I also enhanced contrast and brightness to make it more look better after it has been glued, ou transfered to your picks...

It is formatted for Letter paper (8.5x11). If you happen to use another size of paper, just print it using without any "Enlarge/Shrink to fit" and you are good to go...

wow. what a great looking piece of kit. what material should i use for this tool? i made a similar looking wrench a few days ago but the steel i used just bends after a while. also does anyone have any hints or tips on tubular picking?

Majestic picks are just another brand name the same as Peterson and South Ord,

Can anyone give me suggestions on what type of template i should make for general picking?
I'm just getting into it, and im not too sure what the designs of different picks are intended for. If any one could address this I would really appreciate it.

Is it just me or is the pdf corrupt? I tried using Sumatra and then adobe and neither could open it.
