Whoa Mate, those are all over amazing Picks!

I'm very new to all this lockpicking and i'm very fascinated of this good work and the nice look of those Picks.
How long does a set take?

Sets usually take two days to possibly a week depending on the size.

If you new simply have a look at the pick making threads and just keep practicing, really is a rewarding feeling making picks that work, when i finnaly made my first half diamond 3 or 4 years ago and opened a lock was probobly one of the coolest feelings.

Always start homebrew, most of the time youw ill findno need to buy and comercial tools.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply eariler, LN21. I just got finished with one of the most stressful duty days and was unable to access the site (blocked). The picks look awesome and I cant wait to use them. Thank you so much for the time, the effort, and the attention to detail we've come to expect. I think I'll do a parody of all the youtube videos "Tools used in this video were purchased from Locknewbie21" when I finally manage to get this older Medeco open

There is another side to this as well; custom tools. You may have a unique idea for a tool, but haven't developed the skills to produce it. I'm currently dealing with this sort of situation; I have a couple of ideas for a Corbin Emhart pickset (no details here), but I keep screwing it up because I haven't made many tools. I would ask one of the more skilled pick artists like LN21 or Kaotik to take a stab at it (paid of course), but that's a lot of money, time, effort, etc.. that might be a waste when I find that the tool doesn't work as expected.

The moral of the story: everyone learn to produce gorgeous picks!

I received my set from LN21 yesterday, hooray! I haven't had time to really test time them out yet though. I will say they are works of art and I keep them in a separate case from my other picks (loose in a zip up bag). Thanks!

Well I am Tired.. long day, so I figured I would right a bit about my picks so people can get there answeres here about making there own or gettting a set.

First the picks -

The hooks- Each has a diffrent purpose, some will look the same but the tang angle and pivot point (also called fulcrum point)'s differ so the maximum amount of pin variations can be overcome, MACS freindly or not.

Rakes- I only make two diffrent ones, the medeco won't be discussed here thank you. First is a point peak rake, pretty common shape but depending on if it's in the us or over sea's I will alter the valley's to accomodate diffrent types of locks. Also my snake rakes are fild and rounded for a reason, they double as rakes for wafer locks.


What materials do I use for the tang? I use stainless steal, Spring steal is strong, but in the long run falters, and stainless steal picks you just have a better range in thickness.

How bout them handels newbie?- Spring steal

Care to ellaborate on the exact metals/materials/process's?- No way, learn for yourself, if I fed information to you on a silver platter.. it wouldn't taste as good if than if oyu cooked it yourself. So work hard.


Finally the question asked all to often.

Why are you prices high?- Well, here's a run down, the picks are custom made to your specs. There finished and unlike comapny claims are ready out the envelope. And trust me you will be hell pressed to find a any comercial company with a bogata that can touch rays, or handels that can match kaotics, while your reading be sure to see there work as its brilliant.

It's mearly your choice, comercial picks are cheeper and work fine, but you have to finish them, for me I have to wet file then wet sand them or the suck period .

I was the lucky one to grab the last set pictured four posts above this one, and let me just say that I hereby second every positive comment ever stated about the man's picks. I received them on Saturday, and wanted to test them for a while so that I could write something and stand behind it. The SouthOrd W-rake has been my favorite "speed rake" on average, since I have yet to make some bogotas, and this new rake is my new fav. Seriously, though, they are worth the price because you can tell he spent time making them perfect. They are so smooth and shiny...ooo :D

I have one pick from LN that I picked up in an awesome trade. This pick is truly amazing. It has an amazing feel to it, especially with it's top secret handle design (he made me sign 23 different waivers so I could test out this prototype ). I will reveal no details on it till LN decides to share it with the group, But take my word it is an improved design that is awesome. I actually like it so much I'm buying myself a christmas present early and commissioning LN to build me a set of these works of art.

Ok enough of my praise and I bet if everyone asks nicely he may let the new handle design be shown to the world.
