Legion303 picksets (large image warning)

After receiving my pick from Legion I chose 3 of the most common locks for my area to pick. A 5 pin Kwikset knockoff, a 6 pin commercial grade Schlage, and a 5 pin residential Schlage.

The pick is exactly what I asked for, most hook picks I have found to be a little tall to have a good fit into any keyway other than something like a kwikset. It is a perfect fit into the more restricted schlage keyways and the finish is smooth and mirrored.

I was able to pick all three locks in under 6 minutes, the locks were pinned by my wife to make this a fair test so I would not know the biting. She's not into locks but was a good sport this time.

The biggest problem I have run into with homebrew picks with fancy handles is feedback during picking. In my opinion there is no point having a beautiful lock pick it you can't pick a lock with it. With Legion's picks feedback is not a problem. I can compare it to ray's picks with no added handle or the soft rubber Peterson handles.

To sum it all up with Legion's picks you get a product that not only looks great, (a bit like snakeskin, naturally I'm drawn to that) the craftsmanship is wonderful, the finish is perfect, and the feedback you get while picking is a rare thing with homebrew picks. I'd recommend these picks to any serious picker out there.

Thanks for the review, FP3! I'm selling picksets in any color imaginable, including glow-in-the-dark and marbled color mixes at this time. Sets consist of three picks and a double-sided wrench. Additionally, the sets can be either hook/half diamond/snake rake, hook/hook/hook (3 different styles), or custom tips, all the same price.

I have several prototype sets that have the same amount of work but less handle material due to my constant adjustments--these work as well but are much thinner handled than the design I eventually settled on, so I'll be selling them at about 40% less than the newer sets. I will also be able to make sets using premium blued steel shim stock from mcmaster.com at a slightly higher price than normal. The shim stock is stronger than but not as springy as the wiper blade stock used in the standard sets.

After getting the package from Legion today I tried out the new picks and was amazed. The new handles are very comfortable and feedback is wonderful. I have cleaned out my pick case of all my picks except for my Bogota's made by Raimundo and this new set of 3 picks from Legion303. You will not be sorry if you order a set. They cost more than commercial made picks but when you use them you will see why. It's money well spent. Lockpicks handmade by a lockpicker are far superior to any stamped out commercial tools you can buy.
