worst idea for a tensor ever(works though)

Postby LocksmithArmy » Fri Aug 28, 2009 11:49 am

so I decided I needed a double tensor so I got me a sweeper bristle and began filing away because I cannot bend them like in kaotics tutorial.

I filed it down till I had this L shape at the tip that fit into a keway pretty well then thinned the shaft just how I wanted it, then did the same to the other side. then I got 1 small piece for the spacer inbetween the 2 L pieces and set out to attatch em.

I have no welder or anything like that but I came across some generic epoxy that seemed like it would work... so I mixed it up and applied it to the parts I wanted stuck together(after sanding of course) and folded a piece of used sand paper around it so I wouldnt ruin my pliars and the held it together with pliars that were rubber banded in the closed position. now to wait

waiting

finally lets see how it turned out... it held ok so then I put it back in the pliars and rubber banded a pen between the prongs so it would seperate them...

waiting agin

then when I removed the pen one of the prongs fell off (oh poo)

I needed a petter plan...

what if i fill a tube with epoxy and leave the tensor in the tube and when its finished cut the tube off and file the epoxy down...

well I decided a straw would work so I made my tube and filled it (verry messily) with epoxy... then put my tensor handle down in there... 15 seconds later it had leaked everywhere. so I pulled the tensor out and it had a nice layer of epoxy all over it, like it had been dipped in plastic... of course it was still wet so I just held it for 5 minutes untill it set (turning it and tilting it so the epoxy did not have a drip) then put one prong in my pliars and set it up to dry for another 55 minutes...

It worked out well over all... after ruining a pair of pliars and a table (and a straw) but I think it turned out nicely.

I will post a picture when I get to my room (Ill have touse the webcam though)

just wanted to share that story, if your lookin to make a 2 pronged tensor without welding it id suggest drowning it in epoxy and hold it till it sets lol

I made mine with Gorilla Glue, which works great on metal. Next attempt will be JB Weld.

I used to custom make my controller for when I went to a super smash bros tournament... I used JB weld on that. It worked great... I wish I had some here
