What about cases?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I am thinking of upgrading- there are so many picks and bypass tools I want to add to my collection. Im thinking of custom making one next.

+1 for Pelican cases.

Here's my pick wrap. Made it myself out of some old Boy Scout shorts I had laying about.

I have to do some additional stitching on the interior straps, but I think it's done for now.

I drilled a hole in the end of mine (if the hacksaw blade didn't have one there anyway) and put them on a keyring. Then I bought a quick release clip and put it on my wallet chain for all of 50 cents. I kinda looked like a janitor, but they were always in front of my right pocket where I could admire them/keep them in sight. I lose things a lot and that is why the wallet is on a chain and the picks close and attached. When I wanted them, I just pulled up on the quick release clip's top half and the bottom half with the picks on them fell away into my hand. Now, the problem I did Face was what to do with the Allen wrenches that I filed down (please don't shun me because I didn't have a blow torch or soldering gun to make anything else, and I know how much the community advises against using them). You can't pick if your Pressure tool and picking tool are attached at the end. Also, the keyring size limits your handle choice to about electrical tape only. I tried to use a case at one point so it didn't look like I worked at my school. Yes, I took my picks to high school with me and picked while the teacher lectured or when I had free time at lunch and never got questioned about it. But, back to the case, I'm going to advise against cloth because my picks worked their way through it. I have seen some great ideas for D.I.Y. cases made out of just about anything on the site. My friend that got me started into lock picking (also had his set at school) made him-self a case kinda like a wallet made out of duct tape. Look around the site and I'm sure you will find something you can work with. I think I talked to much here, but I hope it covered what you were asking and I didn't just ramble on about something off subject.
It is better to let them think you are stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Thought I would join and give a tip about the case I made, I used an old cd case and modified it a bit so now I have room for almost 100 tools (picks, wrenches etc). I first had a leather case that I got with my first pick-kit but after a while an several new picks the case was getting a bit cramped. So a CD-case for 96cds, a sharp knife and some wit I now have a robust roomy case that will last me a life time :D

Hi Ophidian,

welcome to the forum. How about posting a couple of pictures of your case? It would be a lot easier and quicker than writing a DIY-manual but will give us a better idea of what you made.

Cheers :)

Well it might not hold up to industrial standards but I like it :)

Ok, here goes...its a bit rough, more of a proof of concept thing, but its sewed to heck,
and shouldn't fall apart anytime soon.
