Tshock's 2 minute or less DIY plug spinner

Postby tshock » Wed Aug 24, 2005 5:06 am

I have been looking around trying to find an easy way to make a plug spinner. All of the DIY spinner instructons i have found require saudering and complicated instructions. So i brainstormed and this is what i came up with.
Materials Required:
1 Victor Brand Mousetrap

Pair of Plyers

How to:
Step 1: Get the spring off of the mousetrap by any means possible. I used plyers.

Step 2: make it look like this:

Brilliant idea, would be incredibly useful if you didn't have to carry pliers around to use it. Time to figure out a way to attach handles to the spring...

The pliers are not necessary. I use them to hold on to the tension wrench inside the spring because it has a sharp corner that cuts my finger when i let go of it. It works very well on my kwickset lock with or without pliers

did anyone try this and if you did, did it work well.
I made an impovement on the original design by making a tension wrench with a longer end so there is no need for the pliers.

Very nice. before I was trying to use a lawnchair spring
I'll be picking up mousetraps tonight. May I reccomend not using used mousetraps for obvious reasons (health and safety risks).

Do you think I'll be ok as long as I make sure to wash my hands afterwords?

If you are not kidding, put the spring in some boiling water for 5 minutes in a pot you dont use for cooking and then figure out how to get it out afterwards, Ie: dump water on neighbour's lawn  ,jk

Unfortunately 5 minutes at 100C isnt enough to sterilize something, just FYI. But, why not get a new mouse trap to experiment with, or even better a rat trap, with its larger spring.

chuck you must have waek rats by you as there is no way you coud use one easy as they are way to strong. :?
if you realy need the steralise a spring put it in the oven at about 150 deg C for 15mins that would steralise it.
got to say tshock very good idea im going to try it today. has anyone else tried this nd got it to work yet ? :?:
