Homemade Rubber Handle??

Postby yungning » Mon Feb 23, 2004 11:48 am

i recently bought some Peterson's rubber handle picks,
compare them to my old handless Southord picks..they are so comfortable.

then i have a thought...about making rubber handle by myself.

anyone made rubber or other handles by themself and is willing to share the experience?

thx...

I've never done that, but i'm brand new to picking.
I've seen a product in some hardware stores thats made for rubberizing tool handles.
I think it's supposed to be pretty easy to use, and not too expensive for a container of it. A container should be able to cover a ton of pick handles, and if you dont like it you can most likely just cut it off. Hope this helps.

Paint on pickuptruck bed liner also comes to mind. I have never tried the stuff on a pick, but its a rubbery compound that often has a nice texture to it.

someone has added in another post that hockey tape first then heat-shrink works good as handles. I tried this and reccomend it, especially on home made street cleaner bristles and even bobby pins etc. for a better feel and more control. (ill post some pics if i have time)
