Falcon: Medium Duty Commercial Grade 2; B-Series

Postby David_Parker » Wed Mar 03, 2004 10:25 am

I came across one of these, attempting to let my moms co-worker into her room. Well, actually, my mom needed access, not right away but I suggested that I might as well take a peek, because I was there afterall.

Anyways, I've seen previous posts towards this lock and how some have security pins, so instead of picking, I attempted to slide back the spring bolt. But, to my surprise, the spring bolt wouldn't fully retract. It would move in a little bit, but would stop about half way.

Are these locks designed this way? FalconLock.com doesn't specify. Nor did I try wiggling the door or anything.

You probably engaged an anti-jimmy device, that prevents the bolt from retracting more than a 1/4 inch or so. Most commercial locks have them. They are either a seperate "puny" looking latch, or a little rod on the latch.

Most Falcoln Locks that I've seen were installed in Motels/Hotels. Raking these locks are about as easy as a Kwikset. I believe Chucklz is correct in saying that the lock has an anti-jimmie device as they do on hotel locks. Try raking with a snake and it should "pop" pretty quick.
