What are you using to pick the locks? a real pick set from Southord or HPC or some home made tools? This could be the reason you're raping the inside of your locks.
if you're sticking picks in and just scraping the pins in and out and up and down like a wild man with a Sawzall, then yeah sometimes you will get lucky and open the lock, but you're also filing away at the brass pins and the material inside will cause a lock to get clogged up and the pins that normally go up and down in their chambers will suddenly become deformed or full of brass shavings and will not work, even with the correct key.
Please watch some youtube videos of people picking locks to see the speed and force being used.
