Is this set legit..?

Postby ButteryLlama » Sat May 05, 2012 1:18 am

Alright. I work at a local locksmiths and need to get a new set of picks. Unfortunatly, the only thing my boss will get me as far as pics go is diamonds and hooks.. If i want anything else i have to pay for it. I found this on ebay and couldn't quite decide if it was legit or not... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional-31 ... 2523wt_924
I don't really feel like dishing out 100 bucks so that i have all the equipment i need. Thoughts?

Also i'm fairly new to this fourm and have tried to read as much on products as i can. Ive looked around on this fourm and havent been able to find anything on the company Sparrows. Would anyone reccomend purchasing a set from them if the previously mentioned set is crap?

They work great for spp but as far as lockouts go, raking tends to be much quicker and i need at least a few decent rake picks

I agree. Not much need in anything more. I have had the same few picks for many years and never understood the need for $100 sets.

I think my little HPC set cost around $11. I've never been on a lockout where I needed more.

Just buy a few individual picks from your locksmith supplier. No need for a huge set. I'm not the best at picking locks, but I use 3 picks and get 90% opened in a reasonable time. Tell the boss which picks you want and if he is too cheap to buy them for you they shouldn't cost much more than S1.75 to $5.00 each.

there are a lot of picks and tension wrenches that you can make or purchase cheap i have been at it a while and i still make my own tools because it allows me to spend my hard earned cash in a smarter way but after you have been at it awhile you will find that its nice to own a good pick set and there are companys out there that have life time guarentees on picks and for the ones i use the most i get guarenteed picks and tools!
