Picking a loose plug

Postby fawkesinator89 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 11:33 am

I have two no. 3 master lock pad locks that were given to me from my work. I have been picking on them for a while and was lucky enough to open one once. I am having issues with these cylinders because the plugs have too much play. (about an 8th of an inch) It seem like if i add enough tension to bind the top pins it is also binding the bottom pins so they will not fall back into place. My question is, are there any techniques that you all use to deal with a very loose plug?

First off, welcome to the forum! Secondly, it sounds like you may want to read up on the FAQ page about some of the basics:

http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1744

I think if you read up a bit you will find the answer to you questions as it sounds as though your technique needs to be addressed. We would need to ask you about 100 questions to give you answers that a little study could all but take care of. If after your search in the FAQ section you still have un answered questions feel free to re-visit. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome! I love the forum. I read an article about oversetting pins tried the lock again and picked it in a minute and half. :) Thanks!
