What did you pick today?

The only thing I picked so far was a Master No. 3 today. It was my first time successfully picking and it took all day to get the right amount of tension, but now that I know how much tension needs to be applied and how to know when you've set pins I'm able to do it. I can't tell what's going on exactly and how to detect the binding pin (I just went back to front because I hear that's what order they're usually in) but I'm going to try to work on that. Picking my first lock felt good. Now I need to learn to pick it quickly and consistently.

Managed to pick a 104 S&G enviro. On a subsequent attempt I broke the pick but it works even better now as I dont have to wory about applying to much force and breaking it again

Corbin Russwin D1 keyway mortise cylinder and a KABA LA80 keyway kik cylinder. The KABA kicked my donkey for the last month until I stopped being stupid and used a different pick, opened in just a few minutes once I switched.

Very old BEST original padlock. 7pin H keyway with a shrouded keyway. Shackle fell out and he did not have the control key any more. Picked it to the control sleeve but sadly after I got it apart I discovered the shackle and boot interlocking parts to be too worn to get the shackle to stay back in place.

That has to be the easiest bitting on an S&G Environmental ever, all the discs look like they are the same angle, that protrusion on the key is the actuator which opens the lock when all the discs are properly rotated...

Wow..I want that lock

It was a BEAST. A solid steel 2" case. It came from an US Army Reserve unit nearby. They said it's been in service since ~1986 on one of their main gates that gets high usage every day and this is the first time they've had any problems with it. I was sad that I couldn't fix it, but I was pumped that at least I was able to get it apart and see how it worked. I wish I had gotten more pictures of the interior parts, the actuator off the back of the cylinder and how it interacted with the locking bars to 'lock' the shackle were very cool.

I have one Schlage deadbolt that I've only picked a few times and a Kwikset Smartkey that I haven't been able to pick yet. I need a few new locks and I'll get a small vice tomorrow, so I can practice my picking without holding the lock in my hands.

I picked an American 5200, masterlock #5, and a brinks high security padlock (not sure the model). Got these for Christmas and have been picking them (I got them all that day, but have been continually picking to practice).

A very big medeco with 5 pins and sidebar. Unfortunately I got this lock without the 6th pin. Never the less, it was a nice pick.

I picked a $5 wafer lock today. My first wafer lock and I must say that I am shocked at just how easy it was.
