I have seen them used as cabinet locks. The back is tapped and a cam is installed. Believe it or not they were locking up about $500,000 worth of Rolex watches. They also make an escutcheon that attaches to a pair of sliding glass cabinet doors through a hole in the glass, one of these is inserted through the escutcheon preventing either door from sliding.
