Cheap Brinks 40mm Laminated padlock has security pins

Postby Darkness1569 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 10:04 pm

After I bought a really cheap Brinks™ 40mm laminated padlock I started picking it and was wondering why I was getting counter rotation, it felt just like a spool pin but I was thinking that the lock was too cheap to have security pins in it.
So after a couple of weeks of picking it every day I was sure there had to be 2 spools in it, so I took it to the grinder and cut the rivets off and took the lock apart and sure enough the lock has 2 spool pins in it. Pin 2 and pin 4, pin 2's spool was a lot shallower than pin 4's but it was still spool shaped . Who would have guessed.

Hope this helps someone out there someday. :D

I still haven't come across a Brinks lock that doesn't have serrated spools in it.
