Gougler Keyless and Old Keys From Estate Sale Today!

Gougler Keyless and Old Keys From Estate Sale Today!

I was on way to the local Post Office today and saw the signs to estate sale.

I asked if they had been busy, they replied no, the add didn't run.

Into the Basement I went!!!

Came out with this cool stuff!!

My favorite is the Gougler Keyless Padlock Made in Kent, OH!

After lookin thru my new-found booty, i went to the web to look this lock up.

Lucky, some one posted pick with the control key, i recognised the key from sorting thru the pile of keys from earlier! SWEET!!!

What a cool lock!! iIthink they are kinda rare, with the Lock, control key, and original Combination tag... however there rareness dont not appear to reflect in there value... I also notice that people are saying they are tough to pick.

Hope the photos come thru.

Based on what you have there I suspect the previous owner may have been a locksmith.

Very nice find. The Gougler locks have an interesting system and are not like a traditional combination lock.

Instead of a wheel pack they have one plate with a "maze" on the back. To open it you put the dial to the very top at 12 o'clock. Some are LRL, some are RLR and some have 4 or 5 numbers. Each number is a "click".

You go x Clicks one way, X clicks the other way, and so on. This moves it to the right place so you can open it.

Models with the bypass keys are fairly rare and having a key for it is even rarer. While not worth a whole lot it makes an interesting piece in a collection and I hope you really enjoy it.

Thank You for the replies!

Yes! It's a very fun lock to have... I will treasure it, "My Precious..."

My friends all love to work it too.

The previous owner was a "Mr. Fix-It" kinda guy. The house was loaded with nice stuff... sadly most of it was priced that way.

They STOLE it from us! Filthy hobbitses!

That is a pretty cool lock. I like the unusual key that operates it.

Also a nice collection of old keys. Good find, sir.

I just found the exact lock at a thrift store for a quarter. I have the key but I don't know the combination. I wonder how I'd go about finding it out? And what year it was made?

See if there is a three or four digit number stamped on the shackle near one end. Some of the combos can be found in code books. Post it here or PM it to me and I'll see if I can find a combo for you.

Would it be possible for you to post some good pics of the key, front back and edge-on, with something in the picture for scale? I've never been able to get a key for mine so I'd like to try to make one. I'm curious how universal they are, or how many different variants there are so it would help if I could see pics of another key to compare to the one above.

The forum doesn't allow you to upload pics here, but if you upload them to photobucket or some photo hosting site, you can post the links here.

The number is 334

I'm not near a PC, but I'll take pics and get them to you in the morning. Looks like a tough key to copy.

Ok, I took some pics. I need to go through something that's not going to display my personal info though.

L2-R5-L4-R3 should work. All credit goes to Oldbiscuit on KP.

If you're unfamiliar with dialing these, turn them a couple times around to the left to clear it, stopping at 0. Then turn it left two clicks, right five clicks, left four clicks and right three clicks, then you should be able to pull open the shackle. Some of these locks give just a little bit of resistance while dialing on the very last click.

Hello everyone!

This is my first post on this forum. I found this site while googling for the information on how to unlock a combination lock without the combination or the key!

During the demolition of an area high school in the Cleveland Ohio area, I found a nice old Gougler combination lock that looks just like the lock focused on in this thread. My code on the shackle is 063. If someone can get me in the right direction with getting the combination, that would be awesome! Thanks in advance!
