Tshock's 2 minute or less DIY plug spinner

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I still say it's the coolest thing I've come across in quite some time. Totally jazzed about this. Really! :) My DIY spinner now resides comfortably in my case with my Falle-Safes, and the handle makes for a perfect plug follower when I need one.

How to build better mous... er, plug spinner

Postby Raccoon » Tue Nov 29, 2005 3:55 am

Wow, the concept of a plug spinner had never even occured to me. Though I'd be afraid of chafing pin edges at high velocity, I think I have to make one of these!

This is perhaps the first reasonable use of a mouse trap. :D
You are in a maze of twisting little passages, all different.

I need you to write something for me.

if you've watched the Jacka$$ movie you'll see another purpose for mousetraps
Time has passed, and I have loved many women. And as they've held me close, and asked if I will remember them, I've said, "Yes, I will remember you." But the only one I've never forgotten is the one who never asked.

I made one of these - excellent ideas everyone! The irony is that my "mousetrap spinner' works better than my HPC spinner did.

This may sound anti DIY, but i think im going to sell my idea to a locksmith manufacturing company. I need some money :)
any rants/raves/reasons not to sell?

Not sure how well a mousetrap tool is going to go over. You might get it mentioned as a tip in a periodical or something, though.

tshock: First let me say that you know what a fan I am of your idea. It does work fantastic.

However, I think if you are to actually look at selling the idea or having the product manufactured, you'll need to have a complete tool that is very "non DYI" in appearance. I don't think that pitching a mouse trap and a tension wrench will get you very far.

Having said that, if you put some work into pulling a solid design together you may have a chance at making something of it. However, it'll cost money to make money. If you're to have it manufactured, you'll need patents, prototypes, etc. If you're just looking to sell the idea you'll still need something more concrete. Not saying it can't be done, but just suggesting the things you'll need to think about.

Good luck! :)

I think the critical element here is probably the coiled spring. You see how well the new Peterson spinner is doing, mainly just because of that same thing.

Except Petersen adds a 1000% markup. :-)

I just got some traps today and I'm going try out this idea.
