DUDLEY LOCK CRACK METHOD

Postby cormier » Wed Mar 29, 2006 5:18 am

Hey everyone...i just figured out how to crack dudley locks using a bit of info i got from several sites and this forum....

Ill make it simple so even noobs can understand...

when you turn the lock and pull down on the shackle there should be 10 points where it catches...or only 2 if your lucky (ill explain later)
1. copy down each number (point to point) where it catches...
i.e. 10-14, 16-20, 23-27....
2. after all this is done...count the differences between each number...they should all be 4...EXCEPT FOR 2...2 sticky spots should have a difference of 5.
3. mark those stickey spots down...still in point to point form
* This is the part where if you had only two sticky spots from the biggining you would start following the directions now
4. from both your sticky spots...depending on where they are on the lock..you must add 7 to one and subtract 7 to the other....(when you are adding 7 go to the higher number of your sticky spot and when you are subtracting 7 go to the lower number of your sticky spot)... you may have to add 7 and subtract 7 to both sticky spots before you figure out which is the right one, but lets say you got it the first try..
5. once you have your new 2 numbers down ...they are your first 2 (and you dont need to know the third) so try them both in different orders before you give up

If everything was done right and you accually understand my method then you should have a smile on your face by right about now and you'll realize how easy it accually is... so have fun and stay outta trouble

Wow,

I don't actually have a Dudley lock, but, after reading something like 20 pages about them not being cracked, im suprised you did if this works!

That would be really something if it works... I can't test it but eagerly wait replies from others. :)

Cheers,

fix

Postby cormier » Thu Mar 30, 2006 11:08 am

i would like to just fix up my method a t bit as i realized that it may not work for everyone....first off...i used a black lock...and when you are finding the sticky spots...the difference doesnt always have to be 4 and 5...just look for 2 sticky spots that dont follow the patturn of all the other ones...and these to sticky spots are your gates...then keep following the instructions after you have your 2 sticky spots..or gates and i also realized...that the only locks i got it to work on had the letter G on the back....in my method i used number 7 to add and subtract...G is the 7th letter in the alphabet...coincidence? maybe? so if my method doesnt work for you...check the number on the back of your lock..and use its numerical number ( a=1, b=2, c=3...) in the place of 7

diagram

Postby cormier » Sat Apr 01, 2006 11:39 am

I made a diagram to display the steps AFTER you have the 2 gates or sticky spots figured out...or if your lucky and you have a lock that only has 2 sticky spots and not 10 you can just look at this pic right away

Do you use the two #'s like you would use normally? [clockw to 1st, 360 ccw back to 1st, ccw to 2nd]

And is it only Add and Add or Subtract and Subtract, or can it be one Add and one Subtract

I wouldn't ask, but I have 3 possible spots.

btw, black rusty one.

Letter A

Postby Wolvy1 » Sat May 27, 2006 2:36 am

Ok, I found a dudley lock in the change room at my gym, and I brought it home for the hell of it.

Did a google search and found this thread.

Tried the method with no luck. 2 problems.

1)My lock is an A
2)All sticky points where the same, there was no break in the pattern.
3-6
9-12
15-18
21-24
27-30
33-36
39-42
45-48
51-54
57-0

But I'm not the type to give up easy, so I went around a couple more times, and noticed 2 spots where even though they gave the same range, they were a little tougher to move through that range.
So I wrote down those numbers, tried them out, and no luck, but then I re-read the method, and tried -1 +1, then +1 -1 (instead of 7 since it's an A, not a G), and imagine my surprise when it actually opened!

That is too cool!

I'm sure most won't care, but I thought I would add this post, to let people know that the number to letter theory appears to be accurate.

I'm working on a similar theory for Task Force combo lock.... cheap make ($2.50 at the hardware store). Took it apart to learn more. The disk nearest the dial is attached to the dial and it has flat spots on it (the sticky spots). The other 2 disks are on the spindle and come off of it (in disassembly). I haven't figured out the whole thing yet, but I may use this method to see if it works on my lock too. I will let you know. I have taken photos of the inner workings of this lock but haven't posted them yet. Thanks for the info too.

Wolvy1, you should return you "borrowed" lock back to whence it came, youve basically stolen it otherwise

dudley

Postby raimundo » Sat Jun 03, 2006 7:32 am

where are you guys with the dudley locks, I thought it was only canadians, but now I see some are in the UK, I have never seen this brand, but with this info, I would like to try one. BTW, since it seemed to always be canadians who talked about them, thats why I was kidding you about Dudley Do-right, the mythical cartoon mountie, but it seemed that the canadians had never heard of him, wasn't he from frostbyte falls or somewhere?

2-5
7-11
13-17
19-23
25-29
31-35
37-41
43-47

It's not working for me. Here are my numbers :

2-5
8-11
14-17
20-22
27-29
32-35
38-41
44-47
48-53
56-59

All the spaces have a difference of 3 except 2 with a difference of 5 and 1... But still, i dont know what number to add 7 and wich one to sub 7...

Oh... good.... Lord. I really thought this topic had died out after the last thread on the matter. I guess we know what we have to look forward to. Another 20 pages of "It didn't work for me, these are my numbers." Seems to me even the "Dudley Cracking Team (keke)" have long since given up.

Man, I know I sound negative. I'd really like to see a reliable method for these, but so far... seems we still have a big ZERO on that front.

Fatso and Djeepy - and to the others who own Dudley locks - are there different series or models of the Dudley lock? this may be the issue here. Just thinking out loud I guess.

I'm going out to purchase one tonight, should I get one with the face (artsy fartsy silk screens of grinning monkeys or whatnot) or the plain faced standard number laden dial??

Gonna pick up a master also. Found another bit of info on them.

You can use a padlock shim for a masterlock, i tried today at school with my friend locker :-°, he was like « omg ».

BTW, my lock letter is G

Postby cormier » Thu Jun 22, 2006 8:14 am

wow...im glad to see my method worked for a few people...and by the way...there is different models of dudley locks..because some have 12 sticky spots and some only have 2.

and for all the people that gave me numbers...im not going to figure out the combo for you...ive got enough stuff on my hands...just read over my method a few times...look at the diagram...and if you still can't figure it out...well then i guess this hobby isnt for you because i put it as simple as i could
