I'd be interested n reading in a seperate thread exactly how they setup a sport group, and how the competitions are run/what's involved.

Hi to all have been sitting in the back ground for about four months now just reading all the posts I could. I am a handy man based in Melbourne and have had an interest in picking for many years now and had to install quite a few locks in my time and felt now that it would pay me to buy a pick set so I don?t have to say no to all the lock outs that I been asked to do in the past. And have had good results so far. :shock:

hey, not meaning to be rude or annoying, but im not sure if this is the 'FAQ' section... someone mentioned in another post that there was info in the FAQ section on how 2 pick locks but im having trouble finding it :oops:

if you are new, before posting a thread asking a question, read through all the stickies in the FAQ section (the forum i linked above), may special attention to the MIT Guide and read it over and over until you understand how a basic pin tumbler lock works, and the theory behind picking. it's all there...

if you have any other questions that are not answered in the faq about the basics (this includes how to pick a lock, making own lockpicks, buying own lockpicks, what lock picks to get, etc...), then use the Search feature of the forum. Chances are, the question has already been asked before, and answered... if you are still confused on something after you've read the thread where the question has been asked and answered, then post farthur questions in that thread.

if you follow these guidelines, your experience here will be much more enjoyable.

I've been here for over a month and half now but never did post in this topic when I first came. I'm glad i've found this new hobby.Also that there is such a great site to exchange lockpicking information with other hobbyists and locksmiths.

Hello All, im new to this forum but not to lockpicking - I'm what I would hope to assume would be an advanced novice. I'm a complete dork when it comes to locks and lockpicking, everytime i go into a store i get impulses to buy new locks or tools that i think i could modify to make a more efficient tool. I often visit sites that sell lockpicking supplies and experience the same impulse. If only i had more money - but sadly college here in the united states is taking away from most of my savings.

welcome to the forums.. and i know exactly how you feel. i always wanna buy new locks and tools, but college has me in the whole 20grand already and that number seems to be going up exponentially

new to the game. just got a kit, and i'm looking forward to jumpin in.

so far all i have is an unnamed solid brass padlock with 6 modified pins that i can't seem to tackle.

think i'll pick up something easier tomorrow. wasted way too much time on this one already.

I've been picking for about two months now. been interested in picking lock for about fifteen years and finally decided to teach myself how to do it. this site and the MIT Guide help a lot. the first lock I picked was a cheap five pin padlock I got at walmart. I started out using bent paper clips. I bent the pick paperclip into a shape that was halfway between a half-diamond and half-round. it worked pretty but I am now in the process of making my own set.

hey, im new around here too. been picking for a few years, not too great at it but then again, never had the time or money to really invest in a bunch of locks or equipment. I have a pick set, and a buncha padlocks. Fun stuff.
