0800 Numbers

I have noticed that a lot of companies use the freephone 0800 numbers for their customers.

My question is this, do you run this system and if so, is it worth it and what kind of costs does it incorporate.

Google for 0800 numbers and you will get all the information for yourself. You then need to work out how many jobs you need per month to pay for this service.

ive found a number of tacts to work well, i have an ad with a 0800 number on , another with just a mobile and another with a local landline on it, these all attract very different people.
many go for freephones as suggest a large company they can trust , some look for mobiles as suggests a local 1 man band cheaper , some look for a local number.

all have there merits, and can help the right ad in the right area.

0800 numbers are good it lets people know who call you that they are not paying for the call
but i direct mobile number i find is better as they know they will get strait trough to you and maybe not a switch board or a call center
to me you know your calling one person with a mobile number but you never know where your call is going to go with an 0800 number

Thats a good point. I suppose when someone is browsing through the yellow pages, then an 0800 number would be attractive to them, but in an emergency, customers would rather be guaranteed that they get straight through to someone.

I don't know how it is in the UK (and Iron Man, please fill out your location in your profile)... but if 0800 numbers are anything like our 1-800 numbers, it would be great for customers who are dialing from pay phones.

There are pay phones in the UK, right?
