Homemade EPG with pics/Questions about Pick gun

Postby gamba66 » Wed May 02, 2007 1:49 pm

Hi, I was reading alot about pick guns recently and since I made my own homemade electric pick which works very very good I was interested in comparing it to a manual gun!

Here is a video and image of my epick!

Tell me what you think!

Which guns do they sell here in germany? I want to buy one from the Wendt shop because it hits down instead of up, but from which company did they get their pick gun? I was reading that lock-aid was the best so I was interested in getting that!

Here is the link

1083 is the article number

Also I have found a place where I can buy a majestic pick gun but it strikes up :(

Another question i have, is if they are really efficient on Euro Locks such as EVVA, BAB or WINKHAUS.. Because they have such a slim keyway is it even possible to use a pick gun?

I think if you get the Wendt EPG theres no need for that downward striking manual pick gun. Just flip your regular EPG upside down. And on locks with very tight keyways it would be difficult to use a pick gun in it. A manual pick tool would work better but it would still be very difficult, especially on locks like the EVVA.

yes but I dont want to get an electric one, they are way to expensive for some screwdriver conversion!

My homemade one works perfectly on most locks also, its just a bit strong..

My question is from what company Wendt's Manual pick guns are?

its article number 1083!

I want to know because i heard lockaid (majestic) is the best and ilco and other brands are not that good ...

So anyone knows?

Whatever you do, don't get the pick gun made by Ilco. I was given one by Foley-Belsaw as part of their locksmith course and it is a very crappy tool. It feels solid and well built but it is extremely weak. But like you mentioned, I've always have heard good things about Majestic pick guns.

yes, thats why im asking ^^ Because the brand is no where labeled in the description and on the pick gun it only says "best quality"

Maybe its a selfmade by wendt, if they can make electric ones, then manual ones too!

The best thing about the pick gun from them is that it strikes down, which is a serious issue because its first of all uncormfotable to always hold the gun upside down and if you do it on a real door (as a locksmith for example) the door handle gets in the way..

I doubt Ilco makes the upside down pick gun for europe.

I made my pick gun out of electric scissors, works really well, but I cant quite get the pick the right size, as it's first time with electric pick, so my pick end is a little on the long side, happy to share how I made it with anyone who would like to know
