Im looking at the Southord 14 piece kit or the DINO 8 piece kit im new at this so i dont need a kit thats big I'm just wanting something that will open my padlocks and my doors. What are the pros and cons of each?

The southord set is probably better for a beginner, but please do not pick locks that are in use...

i would only pick my own locks i just need something to do this summer and this looked like something fun and useful to do

Yes, even if you own them, if you are using them you should not pick them.

Even though it is unlikely that you will damage the lock it isnt worth the risk.

Your future here is limited if you continue down this path....

I have the SO 14 peice set, and I feel that'll good for starting out. It has everything you'll beed to start practicing picking, and then more. So if you get that, you'll be set for quite a bit. If you're low on money, or just don't feel like spending that much, you'll be fine with a smaller set as well (a 7 peice for example).

You dont have to be a lockie to buy picks,

You should search the site for your answers before cluttering it up with yet another repeated post, the first thing you should do in this hobby is to learn to use this site as this site will make or break you,

I would just get a short or small hook, a small diamond, a snake rake, and a saw tooth raker. A half ball and a camel back you could get but optional. Also as for tension tools. Get a standard tension wrench and a twist tension wrench. That seems like a good set for beginners. www.lockpicktools.com

Get them in either plane handle or ripple handle.
