The southord set is probably better for a beginner, but please do not pick locks that are in use...

Yes, even if you own them, if you are using them you should not pick them.

Even though it is unlikely that you will damage the lock it isnt worth the risk.

Your future here is limited if you continue down this path....

I have the SO 14 peice set, and I feel that'll good for starting out. It has everything you'll beed to start practicing picking, and then more. So if you get that, you'll be set for quite a bit. If you're low on money, or just don't feel like spending that much, you'll be fine with a smaller set as well (a 7 peice for example).

viewtopic.php?t=20862&highlight=pick+stuck+lock This could perhaps be an example for the above posts on not picking locks you rely on. :P

You're not talking about the Navigator pick set right?
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

And then you pmed me i guess,

As i said to you in pm theres loads of places to buy picks but the internet is probably the best place you will get,

You dont have to be a lockie to buy picks,

You should search the site for your answers before cluttering it up with yet another repeated post, the first thing you should do in this hobby is to learn to use this site as this site will make or break you,

I would just get a short or small hook, a small diamond, a snake rake, and a saw tooth raker. A half ball and a camel back you could get but optional. Also as for tension tools. Get a standard tension wrench and a twist tension wrench. That seems like a good set for beginners. www.lockpicktools.com

Get them in either plane handle or ripple handle.

+1 for the Southord Set. It's a good starter set. I got mine from cheaper than dirt.
