I have a lock that i havent been able to pick and i was wondering about it. It is the Chateau C 970. I was just seeing if I could get some advice about it, and some information on the lock. I will put up some pictures in a few days.
Thanks a lot

nothing is pick proof, you just have to find a way to pick it .
mushroom pins, use lighter tension and when pushng up on the pin stack, the tension wrench will want to go backwards a bit, keep a small hold on the tension and follow through on the setting of the mushroom pin.

Ive got one of those too.
Appears to be similar to the Brinks R70.
I have tried the same picking techniques on the Chateau C 970,
but the keyway is somewhat obstructed.
I need to make a different size hook to try again.
All mine are too long or too shallow.
(I dont currently have a medium...boo hoo.)
I will let you know what I find out.

It's still $#%*&%ing with me.
Has anyone ever tried to pick this from the hole in the BACK of the keyway?
Or maybe with one of the Brinks models?

i havent tried from the hole in the back of the keyway, but i noticed that the hole screws me up and my pick goes through it sometimes when i try picking it from the front. I guess if you can manage to get some pins from the back then get more of the front pins from picking from the front, it might be a good strategy to tackle this lock.

I haven't seen or heard of anyone picking it. Most lock I've run across can be picked or bumped. New one for me.

I heard plenty of people ask about it, but I don't have a pick small enough
to try it with yet.... the keyway is so %$#@&ing tight.
Maybe if the picks were curved .. not up and down.. but top to bottom.
I got some round tip pliers here somewhere....
If I heat the tip of a half diamond with a torch and...hmmmm

I picked this lock with a hook pick after attempting to spp for several hours on a long car ride. I only picked it after i stopped paying attention to the lock and put literally no tension on the plug. It just swung open in my hand so smoothly i nearly jumped. But for the next 4 hours of the car ride i couldn't open it again, although I gave up after a while.

lockcoach, tell me how you got the chateau bumpkey, No one I know has a card for chateau for their code machines, I haven't seen the information on cuts and spacing for chateau locks, I know of one attempt to make a bumpkey for them using either american lock specks or abus lock specs. but it didn't work.

Ah! this lock! I'm glad I'm not alone with the hatred built against this lock
My buddy bought this lock before our last deployment. It seemed like a simple lock to have fun with. He hasn't gotten it yet, but after a week of curse words and practice, I've been able to open it.
You me, I had to use a combination of raking and SPP. I first ran a shallow feeler pick through, and that set some of the pins. Then I went in and felt around & SPP any that remained. This has been the most efficient technique I've been able to come up with against this lock. Hope you get yours. good luck.

When you did this, what kind of tension did you use?
