Hello, friends call me by the nickname Rio.
I am from Greece and...
I studied electronics and automation for 4 and 2 years respectively.
My interest in lockpicking started about 2-3 months ago. I felt a unique sensasion when i opened my first lock which was a warded one (and frankly it was the only one available and safe, as I didn't want to do any "mistake" on any of my door locks).

I created a few lockpicks out of hexal blades with a dremel tool (i had it before I was interested in lockpicking due to my work :P) and a rasp set that i had bought at a bargain price (which still continues to serve me well).

I am sure that everyone who like this "hobby" as much as I do, still remember how they felt when they opened their first lock or any lock that was about to be picked for the very first time.

Regarding legality issues I don't have to worry because I am not intending to break any law, just practicing on my own locks and if given permission to friends' (which I think this skill comes in handy when someone you know loses/forgets his/her keys). Plus its a great feeling when you know that you can open doors or locks.
As of now I have already picked almost all locks found in my house including high security pin tumbler :D and I only picked my first lock a month ago.
This forum-site has been of great help for me and I hope that I will contribute something as well.

I'm new to any kind of forum, but not to lock picking. I picked my first lock in my ninth grade geometry class. It was a padlock that once unlocked had a screw that could be removed to disassemble the padlock... Once I had it apart and could view the cylinder I was able to understand how the cuts in the key lined up the pins, and then figured out that tension would hold the pins in place while I raked them until they were all aligned. I am truly self taught. I've opened safes as well... I just want to continue learning everything I can about locks and locking mechanisms.

Hello to all. I wanted to take the time to introduce myself here finally. I have been a long time reader, but thought it time to say hi.

I am somewhat new to lockpicking but not locks as I have collected locks off and on now for the last 15 years or so and have always had an interest in the mechanical workings of locks. I came here to start looking for information on uncommon locks, etc. and was overwhelmed by the wealth of information here.

My increasing interest in picking has compelled me to come forward and post finally. I hope to continue to learn much here and perhaps even add value.

hello everyone ive been picking for a few months now and have very few problem becmong a better picker my first lock i picked was master 911 and have since picked basic all the masters a few yales including there dimple lock a ton of schalge dead bolts some stanley padlocks quite a few American padlocks some brinks padlocks some arco 7 safety deposit bag locks and a kryptonite/schlage ks22 all of which i have both spp'd and raked the only lock ive come across and still havent managed to pick is my medeco classic and would love some advice on how to crack it. tool wise i the southord 14 piece with a few extra southord picks the klom 32 piece set the southord e500xt epg a brockhage pick gun goso auto picks southord auto jigglers klom 7 pin tubular pick a southord plug spinner a ton of bump keys and a brockhage bump hammer. i look forward to learning from yall and if ANYONE knows how to pick the medeco classic please let me know

Hey all, I'm pretty new to lock picking only started about a month ago, and came across this site about a week ago. I recently got myself a FPS-8 from lockpicktools.com and I'm really liking it so far nice and compact with 8 picks and 2 tension wrenches all in your pocket! The amount of information available on this site is fantastic and I'm having a great time reading through all the tutorials and viewing all the pictures and videos available! I'm still learning about all the different tools and when to use what but I'm looking forward to it and having fun picking the few locks I already have.

Hi all,

My name is Mark, I'm from the Netherlands.
I first started lock picking on the 23rd of February 2009 when I received my Southord 14pcs pick set.
It took me approximately 2 hours to open my first lock, a NEMEF SKG** Cylinder.
After I opened it once, the lock appeared so easy that I could open it consistently under 5 seconds within a day.
After that I got hooked on picking. I've ordered the Southord jack knife which I carry with me all the time (along with a lock which I haven't opened yet) so that I can pick while in traffic jam, etc.
After a while I noticed that a lot of locks here have very narrow key ways and special slim line sets exists to pick those locks.
So I ordered the 22pcs slim line set from Southord.
I've been quite successful with it so far, and yesterday a new order came in with a GOSO dimple lock pick set, the Brockhage pick gun (down firing) and a set to disassemble locks.
I've opened a few of my locks with the pick gun, but I still need to get used to it.
Yesterday evening I immediately ran over to the store to buy a dimple lock, my first, and I got it picked within 5 minutes after opening the package.
It's a Master Lock 540D, so I'm pretty happy with that ;)

Currently successfully picked 96% (51 out of 53) of all different locks that I've tried to pick.

A couple of the locks which I did pick successfully:
- Master Lock 540D (dimple lock)
- Master Lock 607D
- Master Lock 2250D
- Master Lock 680EURD
- ABUS 24/60 Disc Lock
- ABUS 65/30
- ABUS 65/40
- A Kensington Laptop lock (new model) with home made pick and manually with 2 paperclips.

I've read and viewed as much as I could find the last few weeks, and I'm pretty confident about the inner workings of a lock and the theory behind picking.
I hope (and expect) to learn even more here, and perhaps in time even help new people learn from me...

Another newbie here. It all started for me from ordering a set of lockpicks to actually use them as molding tools with my another hobby of making polymer clay figures, but once they arrived I figured I try to open this padlock I have just for giggles. And what do you know, it actually opened. So now I'm hooked, who knew lockpicking would be this much fun!

I herd large piles of unix machines and complicated networks for a day job, but I've been messing - and breaking - all my toys since I was about 2. I've got piles of destroyed filesystems, hard drives, microcontrollers, model cars, auto parts. Maybe it's time to try some toys that were hopefully designed to deal with rough play. Of course, I never locked myself out of my locker, I've never lost my bicycle keys, I've never touched my combination locks in a naughty way, and I never use handcuffs socially...

So given all that, I figured I should come hang out at the monastery with a bunch of similarly straitlaced folks.
