When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I'm on the DealExtreme website looking at these three Mul-T-Lock pick tools but they have three different types. There's Left Up, Left Down and Right Up. Simply put, what does that all mean and which one is suited for the US/North American region?

It depends on the lock, the up down etc things refer to the positions of the pins in the cylinder.

Ok let me make sure I got this right. So if like the pins move UP into the keyway at a rest/locked position with the keyway opening shifted to your right it's considered RIGHT UP?
So would that mean the North American/US pickers would use a LEFT DOWN configuration of the tool?

No, the physical position of the pins in the lock, under normal orientation the key way is a rectangle, and the corner the pins are in, relates to the version of the tool you need for the lock.

It depends on the cylinder, I don't know which types are more common in different areas.
