lists of locks?

Postby Wizer » Sat Jul 04, 2009 7:31 pm

HI!
Are there any websites where I could find information on specific locks?
I mean like a list of locks with number of pins, security pins, type of sec.pins, position of them, key blank, etc.
Maybe even if its more easy to pick or rake?
It would be easier to learn about a lock, if I knew what I was picking.
For example master no.3 & 5, tricircle series, whale top security...

I've PM'd you a web address with a very comprehensive list of locks, lock manufacturers, and also pictures of said locks.

Enjoy :)

So what did snowyboy pm you, was it the french site, serrures de haute securite' chez monmartre.com or some such
Or was it some reference to LSS+ or Greymans book on high security locks?

A lot is written about the interesting and better locks, but all the knockoffs and cheap locks probably will never appear in any comprehensive book or website because they are not worth mentioning.

I felt a little embarrassed to ask this newbie question, since I had not looked very deep into the locks category. So this was already forgotten, but the link was(is):
http://ibmgeek.shacknet.nu/lockenpedia/ ... Categories
Some pictures of locks, but not much that would help.
Or maybe I did not search enough (again).
I find these cheap padlocks not very good practice. They open allmost on their own, or only by chance because of poor feedback & tolerances.
I remember reading of a german site with somesort of list made by hobbyists, but never found it. Will have to check that french site.
OHYEAH, I got my High-security mechanical locks just today! Not really gone through it yet (allmost 600 pages), but it seems a good buy!

http://www.lockwiki.com

Not too many specific locks up yet (about two dozen or so), but some big updates from myself planned in the coming weeks.

http://lockwiki.com/index.php/Lock_Manufacturers lists all manufacturers. On manufacturer pages they list all locks that have pages on Lockwiki, such as:

http://lockwiki.com/index.php/ASSA_Twin_Combi
http://lockwiki.com/index.php/Medeco_M3
http://lockwiki.com/index.php/EVVA_DPI
http://lockwiki.com/index.php/Abloy_Classic

Thanks,

I have a a good handful of locks, breakdowns, and picking tips for various locks here. Not very useful if you're digging for info on a specific cylinder; lockwiki is (or will be) the information resource for that. But, the following page might have some of the juicy bits you're looking for:
