im having some troubble understanding if i am able to order from lockpicks.com. under the terms of service they say

"by placing an order the BUYER certifies that LockPicks.com, its employees and/or the officers, board members, and/or stock holders of its parent will be acting in a lawful manner as described under U.S.C. Title 39 Section 3002a when mailing "locksmith entry tools" to the buyer, i.e. buyer certifies that he/she/it is one or more of the following: a bona fide locksmith; lock distributor (contractors often fall into this category); bona fide repossessor; motor vehicle dealer; lock manufacturer; or a motor vehicle manufacturer;, law enforcement officer; active duty military; a bona fide fire fighter; a bona fide purchaser for one of the aforementioned; and/or a customer who will have this purchase shipped outside the United States, its possession, or territories; and/or a customer who is purchasing items that are not "locksmith entry tools." LockPicks.com or its parent will not deliver any locksmithing device through the mail to a person who cannot certify that he/she/it falls into one of the aforementioned categories."

Also have a problem with this? Can anyone please clarify?

I haven't posted much in my time here yet, mainly looking around and i still have yet to buy my pick set, but come Monday i have decided that i will be ordering "Fourteen Piece Lock Pick Set w/ Metal Handles - MPXS-14-O " from SouthOrd (the slightly blemished section) because of this thread i have chosen this company to go with. Waiting til Monday so i can order it on the phone and ask a few questions of the customer service as i order. I already have some locks in my collection because i knew someday i would finally buy a set of real tools (started with a bobby pin and a paper clip with a cheap dead bolt, re-pinned it, and didn't pick past 2 pins before i ended up destroying the lock).

So Thank you guys for making this thread and making it sticky. It has helped me a great deal. Anyone know if the normal line of picks will work on euro locks? i live in the US but half my locks are euro locks lol

I've been a little on and off lockpicking for a few years now, and the small, way to cheap pick-set I had disappeared. Now I'm back in business and I'm planning on buying the Southord Slimline 9 piece set. I liked it because it got several different hook picks. I am also thinking about buying a feather-touch tension tool. Is that a good or bad idea for someone who never have opened a lock before?
Also Im throwing in a handcuff shim, but thats personal;)

The feather touch tensor is really not that useful. You'll get the hang of it using just regular ones.

Just here what I like as a beginner set, for who really want to learn SPP:

Hooks:
- Majestic or HPC hook for the standard euro profile
- HPC 2000 hook for the thiner keyways
- Southord small, medium, long hook for the very thin keyways, the small for the small locks like mini padlocks, postbox lock.

- HPC or Southord half diamond, if you can rake with feeling, not with force, the southord is better and can use on thinner keyways too.

- S rake or L rake pick, snake rake optional

AND a lot of tension wrench, from car whisper blade insert and street sweeper blade

Looks fine to me. You might want to pick up a couple of different tension wrenches though.

This is a decent $20 starter kit, It will definitely get you into most padlocks (practice practice practice) and provides good tactile feedback.
