Help identify key blank

Postby WolfSpring » Fri Jul 16, 2010 5:12 am

I'm at work, don't have a camera that can put an image online, but I need to find a key blank for a file locking display cabinet. The key that fits the slot is a unicor it is a simple cabinet lock and the key went missing. It's been picked open to change out information(safety, duty shifts, etc..) And there is another key that matches, but it belongs to a different section. I can copy the existing key if I can find out which key blank it is. It's rectangular with the shaft coming off the main body flush to the top right of the head and the key is cut on the top of that. It's four wafers and the key sais made in the USA. I'll bring my camera in tommorow, but thought maybe someone would know of this key blank and be able to help. Thank you.

I laughed my donkey off after reading your post. A picture would help as you just described the general shape of any key blank. I have a question for you, do you know Bob from Colorado, he works in an office downtown? If you have a pic lots of people with chime in with the correct key blank #.

Good luck

Yeah I guess it could sound like any other key blank and UNICOR could just be a company name with nothing to do with the blank itself, I'm bringing my camera into work I'll get the shape and the keyway and get them up later today. It's not a centered shaft it's flush to the top of the head of the key I thought maybe that was a litle more unique, but again it might just be what the company did, I am glad I amused you :) It looks as though we are going to have to buy new locks though, because it will be cheaper then having a professional locksmith impression a key for a wafer lock. But I will still try to get the picture so we can make back ups of the new keys so they do not lose them again.

This post is solved, we are just going to buy a new lock for the display case. Thank you.
