Are any of you familiar with any major flaws in the Kaba-Ilco Simplex combination lock? Such as the 7000 or 6200 series..

There's currently a class action lawsuit against Kaba Ilco over an ingenious and relatively simple flaw that will nearly all of their mechanical push button locks. The flaw lies in the combination chamber. The entire Simplex line, with the exception of the LD450/470, uses the same combination chamber. Start your search there. If you can't find the case specifics, let me know and I will dig up the website for you.

Were you aware of this issue prior to the class action? If so, did you notify Kaba?

You're on the wrong forum then. Produce some proof you are who you say you are and I'll be glad to point you to where you'll find all the information you need.

Sure, what sort of proof would you like?

The LD450/470 models use a completely different combination chamber. On an LD450/470, for example, you can press the combination in any order. In other words, 4-5-3-2 is the same as 3-4-2-5. The combination chamber works off of switches oriented in the On or Off position. This isn't the case with the rest of the mechanical lock line that Kaba Ilco uses.

Sure, what sort of proof would you like?

Any sort of proof that your company is involved with this class action lawsuit and Kaba Ilco. Sorry if this is vague but realize that I don't want to be telling everyone that asks about this flaw - my apartment's pool is guarded by an L1000, for Heaven's sake!

Haha, all kidding aside, just need some sort of way to identify who you say you are for peace of mind, please. Feel free to PM me so we don't litter this thread with our correspondence. If you are who you say you are, I'll be more than happy to assist you as much as possible and then recommend others involved with this. I found out about the flaw when the lawsuit was filed but I know myself and many others have replicated the lawsuit's claims. I've done so both on my work bench and in the field and I'd be delighted to help both sides if it means a better product and solution, if only for my companies' customers.

Thanks.
