Liberty Lock?? Ilco Lock?

Postby gswimfrk » Thu Sep 01, 2011 9:38 am

Hi LP101 Community!

Today I came across a strange and obscure key... Unfortunately I did not take a picture of it... it was on my friend's keychain...

The Key:

The key looked very strange... it has multiple grooves on both sides and probabally goes to a nasty keyway...
The color was a bright brass/nickel silver color.
On one side it was stamped Embossed "DO NOT DUPLICATE" and it was a neutered bow like any other DND KEY
It was the length of a DND KW10 Key from Ilco
It had the word "LIBERTY" and the number "3" on the other side...

Has anyone seen any keys like this and/or know what kind of lock it belongs to? Im curious!!! The keyway must be nasty!!! :o

Also I know Ilco makes a proprietary keyway for locksmiths, has anyone seen any?

Thanks

@gswimfrk:

Could it have been a Medeco key ?

Most Medeco's are either Square headed, Classic round headed and there are some odd ones here and there that have different bow shapes...

Im sure it wasn't a Medeco key. The key had a standard neutered bow... And was not as thick as medeco keys and did not have angular cuts.

I have a feeling it may be to a Ilco Restricted keyway... only because the head looks like an Ilco DND... :D

Thanks,

Ivan

If it is the EXACT key you linked to it could be a neuter bow Schlage numbered keyway...

It could be anything -- without slightly better pictures to check out there can be no certainty...
