Just a word of warning, the pick gun usually requires replacing pins in the lock afterwards, especially if aggressively used. So don't use it on a lock that you cannot rekey or one you intend to try and feel pick afterwards. It is sort of a last resort tool before drilling the lock open.

I've never seen or heard of anyone ever damaging a pin in a lock with a pick gun.

I have seen them cause the spring cover to pop off but that is it.

I'll admit, I have not seen everything but I have been doing this daily for almost 20 years.

I think he means that a pick gun tends to shave the pins.

The key often works, but inserting can become a bit "rough" due to a pick gun.

It tends to damage the springs. This might not make the lock not operate with the key, but it will make other means of entry difficult such as picking or impressioning. An incorrect stack height or one that is borderline will compound this.

Surprised you haven't come across this problem in 20 years.

My original post should have read springs, not pins. Sorry for the confusion.
