Secureit locks

Postby paranoid » Wed Mar 30, 2005 4:40 am

I've been having a look about town today just to see what locks are on sale and for how much, with a view to buying one to practice on and I came accross the brand Secureit, I haven't seen anything mentioned on the forums about them, they looked pretty cheap and nasty and were selling for about the same cost as the Bird brand of locks, it looked as if you could count the number of pins from the outside. (there were five pin sized circles on the cylinder).

The packaging I saw (and a quick flick on the net) was a sort of dark red backing card with the word secureit written accross the top in white, the cylinder itself was in a form of shrink wrap attaching it to the card - they also seem to do padlocks of various descriptions too.

Just wondering if anyone had any more information on them?

they are a budget brand lock, but of superior quality to bird brand, many do have anti picks , and on the whole they are more secure.

they are as good as many 5 pin locks, a fair budget brand, and popular with some lockeys and diy fitters.

there mortice locks are ok too for budget locks.

for picking , they will challenge you more than a bird.

never assume quality by price, the assec range of cylinders are £1.16 each , they have 3 anti picks and are a swine of a keyway to try and pick, better i think than their expensive competitors.

I have to agree Pinky, I have a few Assec locks and they pose an interesting challenge. I find a small diamond the easiest to open them with.
If it ain't broke dont try to fix it, if it is learn how it works before you do.

I agree !! the Asec locks are real pain to pick, there is just no room to move in those key ways, i'd much rather be facing a Yale or Era.

Edited spelling just for EvoRed.

Sorry if this seems pedantic, but enough is enough! Why does everyone spell it 'Assec' rather than the correct spelling 'Asec'?! Been bugging me for months! Thanks, that's now off my chest!

The bulk of my cylinder stock is Asec for the exact reasons Pinky suggests. They are quality cylinders, have anti picks, and have a horrible keyway, and are cheap as chips! I don't understand why more Lockies don't carry a substantial stock of Asec cylinders, not to mention other bits and pieces of theirs...

Cylinders such as Union, ISEO, Yale, etc. are in comparison fairly expensive, but when I walk up to a door I know which one I'd least prefer to be there ready to be picked...

...so it had to happen today, first warrant job and it's an Asec Euro. First one I've seen on a door that I haven't fitted myself. Got it with the pick gun with a filed down needle, but certainly more hassle than most Union's, ISEO's, Yale's, ERA's, etc...

Got to be by far the best value for money cylinder out there.
