Top placement for tension wrench question

Hey, I could never really put my tension wrench on the top part where the pins are. Could someone tell me how this is done?

Can i ask why you would want to do this? Does not give much room to pick. You can use wishbone picks if you cant put the pick down the bottom or there are some different shapes and sizes so the pick can fit down the bottom. If this does not work do you have a picture of the lock or a url? I have heard some locks might require you to put in the pick then the tension wrench however I have never come across one.

Mind you I have only been picking for a few weeks.

It's just I have a really thin lock and the keyhole is so small and whenever I put the tension wrench on the top, it always falls out when I try to apply tension.

Oh I copy/pasted it into my browser, it worked. Yeah that would probably work. I don't really understand how it is turning that lock though. It doesn't even look like anything is going into the keyhole. Could you explain how it works? Thanks for your help.

If you look at the website the "Y" shaped tool has little bits sticking out. These go in the top and bottom. Since the top part of the "Y" is bent spring steel it kinda puts pressure on the top and bottom of the lock keeping it in place. You place tension like most other wrenchs, the one time i tried using it i found I had to put some pressure towards the lock to keep it in place.

There is normally enough room between the "Y" to use the pick.

Yeah. Make a stubbier tension wrench.

If you think about it, it does give you significantly more. After all, the space between the pins and the front of the keyway, keeping your vertical constant, is dead space. You can't put your pick in through there without a LOT of contorting, because then you're bashing the side of the first pin. But you CAN put your pick where your wrench originally is. So if you move the wrench up to the top, you have more room in the bottom of the keyway to maneuver.

Am I being clear?
