Official Launch of Locksport International

Postby digital_blue » Sat Jul 09, 2005 1:00 am

Hey folks!

It is my great pleasure to announce that effective immediately, Locksport International is live. This means:

1) Website is up. www.locksport.org / www.locksport.com

2) We are ready to receive new members. Membership applications are available on the website in the form of a fillable PDF. Download the PDF, fill in the blanks, print off, sign, and send in.

3) For the initial roll-out period, we will be offering an introductory membership offer of $20US for 12 months membership. Payment can be made via paypal to locksport@gmail.com or via Money Order to the PO Box listed on the bottom of the application form. For the moment, please disregard the requirement for endorsement by local chapter president. The Board will be endorsing new members until official chapters are up and running. In addition to member application and dues, we will need a passport-style photo. Basic requirements are listed in the charter, but for simplicity's sake, I will post here:

LSI Charter wrote: Accompanying the Locksport International Membership
Application will be a photo or picture of the applicant. The
photo or picture will meet the required specifications:
I. It shall be no less than 1 1?4 inches wide if supplied
in a developed or printed manner.
II. It shall show clearly the face of the applicant with
no visual or facial distortions that would prohibit
recognition of the applicant. These distortions could
include but are not limited to sunglasses, hats,
hoods, or silly or unnatural facial patterns.
III. If supplied in a digital manner, pictures are to be no
less than 200 dpi resolution and in JPEG format.
IV. Accepted photos could include but are not limited to
passport photos or commercial photo booth pictures
that meet the above requirements.

So, things are up. We've put a lot into this project. If you are interested in starting a chapter of your own, or are simply interested in joining this new and exciting organization, now is the time to sign up. If you have questions, please direct them to myself via PM, or via email at joshnekrep@hotmail.com (now my true identity has been compromised... oh well... back into hiding I go... ;) ) Don't forget that if you are interested in starting a local chapter but see some hurdles in the way, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will work with you to help get it up off the ground.

Thanks so much to all of you who have shown interest and provided valuable feedback!

So db, what do you suggest? Join the Locksport International parent chapter (because it is just that... international) or start a national chapter (in this case, Australia)? The Aus chapter might be a bit far off :?

PM sent. :D

First, you have to have a Paypal account. Then log in, and click on the tab "Send Money". It just ask you for the email address, amount and some basic questions. Then press Continue and a comfirmation page appears and you need to click one more time to finalize the payment. Thats it.

Looks like it's just that the .pdf documents are still being hosted by db's Geocitie's site.

Hi guys! Thanks for all the enthusiasm! Special thanks to those of you who have already sent in membership applications. Remember to include the photo if you are sending by mail, or you can email the photo to locksport@gmail.com

And no, the site is definately not being hosted by geocities. For the time being, I've just linked to the PDF files which are being housed on my geopcities space. If you have any problems accessing the files, please let me know.

So far, we've got several interested people who will be looking to start local chapters, but of course, we'd like even more. I have to keep reminding myself that Rome wasn't built in a day and this is all coming out pretty darned fast.

I just got confirmation today that I've got the numbers to start a small Winnipeg chapter, and I expect we will be meeting for the first time probably then end of July.

As you are all aware I'm sure, Edmonton will be the first out of the gates to hold a chapter meeting. Good for them! I can't wait to see how that goes!

Exiting times boys and girls... exciting times!

Doh! Ok. I'll move them over tonight and update the links. I was hoping to keep the traffic restricted on locksport.com for the time being because it is not currently being hosted where it eventually will be. Well, we'll see how that goes. :)

Thanks for the info vec!
