Just opened my Level 2 Lock Picking Practice Kit

Hi all,

I received my new kit from www.lockpickshop.com today and was very excited to get started. I ordered it with 2 day shipping because i am traveling and want to take it with me to practice. Order on (Sat) shipped (Mon) received on (Wen) no problems there they have a great website and fast shipping and emails . The first thing i did was pop in the CD. Wow what a cheep CD. No videos, No audio. Just text that i have read on the Internet and can find in these forums and web pages. I have been reading and printing pages about lock picking (locksmith) for 6 months. All the info on that CD is found all over the net for free and in a better format. Now I'm on to trying out the picks. I wont be able to review on the picks cuz i have never had picks b4 lol but i will have fun in the mean time. As for any one looking to get the CD I would not recommend it. Just search the net or this forum and 80% of your questions will be answered.

Well I'm back from my trip. I took my kit and 6 other locks (all pin tumbler) 2 Master Pad Lock, KW1 house door lock, SC1, to try to pick. After 2 days i was able to pick all my locks. That was a lot of fun and i am very excited to learn more!! So i moved on the the lock on the hotel door and in 10 min i had it. Cheep locks fun to pick as a noob. What my problem is I have bad hands because i work in a factory and after 10 years they cramp and have little feeling in them. The pick set i got works well but i was looking for anyone could tell me if the (wider metal handle) or hard plastic handles pick set would help.

hi i also have a job thats hard on the hands. but now ive taken to wearing gloves and i moisturise my hands and fingers every couple of days and my feel for the picks has got better try that

Peterson makes excellent picks with plastic handles. They're available at lockpicks.com and unlockables.com, as well as from the maker, peterson-international.com.

You should not pick locks that do not belong to you. Unless of course you have the owners permission.

Hotel door? As in individual room door? What kind of lock was it? And yeah, that's kind of a no-no.

The door on the room had a sc1 lock on it so did the bathroom door.

Better to buy a few more practice locks, or have a look around any houses that are being renovated...you may find an old door in a dumpster.
Leave the locks you don't own, or don't have permission to pick, well alone. :wink:

the hotel door lock you picked would have been master keyed so a false sence of ease would have been gained you should nt have done it but now you know
ps you can easily dislodge master wafers with rough picking so be careful as you could have locked yourself in not funny if you have just bragged about the hotels crap security ha ha ha

ps read above again (other posts) its the best advice you will get
