When posting in this thread, please put as much contact information as you can, so other members can contact you. Introduce yourself, (for example what your do for a living), tell us how long you have been picking and such, how you can be reached (phone, email) and what days and times would be good for you to meet (generally speaking).

This is only for those in the northern areas only!
If you are in the Southern parts of the UK you can contact JackNco, he is currently in the process of launching http://www.locksport.uk and will be based out of Coventry.

An example of a good post:
Hey guys, my name is Doug, I live in Edinburgh area and I am whiling to drive or take a train about an hour in any direction to meet someone and share ideas. I have only been picking for 20 mins now, but I am not a rapist, and I love beer. I am whiling to bring a few friends along, and pay membership dues if I have to. I can be reached at +12922810122 , and my MSN name is douglas101. I can meet on Thursday or Friday evenings after 4 PM or on Saturdays and Sundays.

An example of a bad post:
Hi, I live in Liverpool area. Is there anyone around here I can meet up with? Thanks guys, I really would like to learn how to pick locks.

Another example of a bad post:
"cmon!! possibly the smallest lockpick group?
do you guys just lockpick by yourself or do you have anyone else you work with?"
-tango2150

Keep it informative and organized guys.

(Thank you tango2150 for taking one for the team and for asking me to make this a sticky :))

i think its because people saw that there wasnt anything organised so havent bothered posting their details mate, either that or theyve given up picking? im sure this like any other hobby has people in awe at first when its a gimmick or party trick but when they realise hey im never gonna be able to open this lock they become frustrated and pack in instead of trying to network and meet others who might be able to help! anyway good to hear from you Tango!

hello my name is david aka uklockpicka, ive thought before why there isnt a locksport community in england like there is in amsterdam, i live in sunderland as you no chris, i dont drink that often because i work nights and i study the foolowing mornings, at city sunderland college, i study construction, with hopes to become an architect.

when i do drink its normally vodka or beer, ive been picking for nearlly exactly a year now, i like making my own tools and am currrently in the middle off looking for some pick handle materials. and im half way through turning a curtain pick on my lathe : ) only thing is im limited to the days i would be able to meet, it would depend on work and college : )

Hi guys, I'm Brett.

I'm in the South Yorkshire area, England....and very tired - work today was gruelling. Argh!

So anyway chaps, I recently got back from university elsewhere in the country and will be beginning university again September 2009. In fact, if I'm quite open about it - there is an underground (or should I say less mainstream?) community out there that I am hoping to contact. This community is the computer community, the enthusiasts, the "geeks" who like all things... smart, highly intellectual, and oddly less mainstream, such as locksport! (I say 'oddly', however, I find it completely odd that a society both home and internationally can live off of absolute drivvel in the form of gossip and celebrity magazines, eurgh! But hey, that's the norm isn't it...).

From my experiences, these communities aren't as strong in the UK (not from where I'm from any way!) unlike in Europe and the U.S but I need that intellectual stimulation that's been lacking for some time now. Plus, I'll be starting my techy BSc in September and I'd like to meet some like-minded people, be invited to events and so on.

Before I jet - feel free to contact me! :D
