Need Help Identifying an Old-ish Key

Postby gadgetboyj » 6 Nov 2016 0:15

Hello all! I'm trying to order a blank 'blade' for a Keyport, and can't figure out what type of blank I should be buying for this lock. There is no manufacturer name printed on the lock or key (it may be a copy, it's too old to remember). I've attached photos of the key below:

It looks like a Yale #8, on more commonly known as a Y2.

The 6 pin version would be Yale #11, not Yale #8 (at least for British Yale).

Is it possible that it's Medeco commercial?

Indeed it is a Medeco commercial! I was finally able to get in contact with a friend of mine last night who worked as a locksmith briefly and he was able to confirm the type of blank it was so I could order. Thanks to everyone who helped out here!

Does it have angled cuts? It is difficult to tell in your photo and the angle of the cuts doesn't look correct.

now that I look at it again, I think Jim is right - unless the key is all C cuts which I doubt.

How does OP not know what kind of lock it goes to. All normal Medeco cylinders say Medeco on them. As for keyway, it's probably Air 00

You'll hafta enter the 'High Security' key area, that key is the Medeco Commercial 00 keyway, also known at the 'Air' key blank
You'll need a locksmith to cut the key blank, hardware stores don't have a medeco cutting key machine
