High Security Padlock.......From the Dollar Store.

Hey all,

I found this at a local dollar store.



Here's the lock in it's packaging.



Here's the lock and keys.



This shows the discs.



The shackle.



An attempt to show the locking ball.

Now, here's what I know about the lock.
-It uses 7 or 8 locking discs.
-It has a double locking ball system.
-The front plate (see the third picture) spins.Possibly to prevent drilling?
-It seems quite solidly built.
-It was only $3.00.

Any thoughts? Anyone have one of these?
I think I might make a cutaway out of it.

Its a cheap knock off of a Abus/Abloy and a poorly keyed one, discussion on the manipulation of these mechs as you know is limited to the advanced section as even thoguh they are a cheap lock they are still picked the same way with the same sort of specialist tools,

Yeah, I know, I wasn't going to ask anything about picking or decoding it, I'd post that in the advanced section, but I thought I'd share this with everyone.

I might try to make a decoder if my friend comes down to visit for a week.

Anyone know how to take this apart?

Have a look for my abus granite thread, you will see that theres likely a retaining clip on the rotating plug cover, you need to get that compressed from the inside then pull the plug, theres various ways to do it but a small hole as (was it p1ckf1sh or mh?) suggested is the best way i think youll find, i tried everything when i wanted to do the granite.

That seems a generic disc lock copy, that is also sold under the name 'Silverline'.

Every disc has a false notch, but they are very thin and may feel very different to a true gate.

I have some dics from the interior of the last one I took apart. If you wish, I'll photo them and post the pics here.

I wish my local dollar store had locks like that. Last time I checked they had crappy weather-proof locks though.

The thing that makes me laugh is that its from te doller store but cost $3 lol

Its like going to the pound shop and buying somthing for £3

Heck if i was a bum and needed to lock my cardboard box seems like good security to me for three bucks, can;t be to carefull about your cardboard boxes these days... I lock mine with a Medeco Gaurded shackle pad lock but some other bum just threw a match and i lost my house..


Anybody have a spare box for me?
