When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I noticed some people have been interested in making some Falle Safe progressive curve picks. I just found the old template I made before I actually bought a set of these picks. Hopefuly someone can make some use of it.
Its a 1:1 ratio. Just print it out, transcribe it to metal, and grind away.

Yeah, its 1:1. It's just a high-ish resolution photo. I make my templates higher resolution to try to avoid a grayish border around the pick template that makes you guess where the actual edge is.

I have made a pick with almost the same curve as number 2 Falle Safe and I am going to make the other 5 but how thick should I make them? I have a bunch of feelers that are the same size as hacksaw blades and are .017 inch thick. I measured the hacksaw blades I have at .025 inch.

I'm not sure of the exact thickness of the falle curves, i think .025. But these were coated with a nickel plating or something similar. A good hacksaw blade would work just fine, that's what I made mine out of before buying a set.

Not to nit pick... but OK, I'm nit-picking.
My templates print out a slight bit small. I compare the size to the photo of the Falle picks on Matt Blaze's website. Blaze has the length of the #5/6 Falle pick at right around 5-15/32"
When I print Exodus's template, the #5/6 pick comes out at around 4-25/32".
If anyone else has this problem, use a copier and enlarge the template at about 12 or 13%. That should fix the problem.
NOTE: this may just be an anomaly witih my specific printer and computer, so check your results.

Hmmm, I'd check to make sure your printer isn't automatically resizing the picture. I just printed mine out (and measured the picks in the template in photoshop) and they all come out to be the right size. Let me know if you fix an option on your printer to get it to work or something.

when i print it it comes out 4 and 13/16ths (measured with just a plain ruler).
printed once on a laser printer and once on a photo printer, both were within 1/32 of an inch of each other.
of course this might be the right size for all i know, i have never seen them before.

try using a better program to print with, like irfanview
http://www.irfanview.com/
great free viewer and printer, not good for much else. make sure you use the option "original size (from DPI)" in the printing options. also i did the math and if 5-15/32" is the correct length of the 5/6 pick then the DPI should be 263 not 300, to change this in irfanview click the image menu, then click resize resample, then in the DPI box put 263. then click ok then print it.
keep in mind this is assuming 5-15/32" is the right mesurement....

Here's a print capture of a quick measurement in photoshop - which shows that the pick from end to end is at least 5.5 inches (I double checked to make sure the ruler measurment was in inches.)
I'm gonna print out another test to make sure myself. I print in photoshop - I find that opening a picture in internet explorer or something similar sometimes resizes images.

By all means, get the curve right, but don't make them double ended like that. That's really annoying.
