I was doing some searching online courses and came across this link.
I was wondering what you all think.

This does appear to be a legitimate course for a "lockout specialist" not a locksmith. Big difference.

A locksmith is defined as "A person with the knowledge and ability to select, install, service and bypass all the components of an electrical or mechanical lock."

This course offers instruction in only ONE (well actually two if you count operating a business) aspect of locksmithing.

A lockout specialist will have the ability and knowledge to bypass locks and/or locking mechanisms, but may know nothing or very little about selecting the proper lock, installing it, and/or service...a big difference you should be aware of.

This is the reason for his much cheaper price. If he tried to cover all the aspects of locksmithing, his price would be as high or higher than what is currently offered.

I would also question a couple of the "claims" on his site as well.

I'd like to share with you the biggest secret in locksmithing. It's a unique type of locksmithing course that turns beginners into skilled, licensed, bonded lockout specialists in just 30 days. Don't take my word for it; try the course risk-free for two full months."

First of all, he cannot license you, only your state/province/country can. Second, Bonding is also something that can't be given to you by just anyone.

Thirdly, note the frequent use of "lockout specialist". I would wager if you spoke or emailed this person directly and asked, (if he was honest, and I guess that he is) he would admit that this course does not cover all the aspects of locksmithing, nor does it make you a locksmith.

My little rant finished, if you are looking into a paying path into the locksmithing field, this may be the route for you. The lock-out and emergency aspect part of the field is really very high paying, and highly satisfying without a tremendous amount of overhead.

Best of luck, and if you do decide to take this course, make sure to post a review on here for us. :)

IF this guy will turn you into a super duper bonded locksmith in 30 days, why does he let you take his course for a full 60 days?

I've been Installing Door's and Hardware for years so I have that Pinned down pretty good.

Picking is what I'd like to learn so that it could be used in making a lil X-Tra Cash.
As I learn more.

Unfortunately I cannot stop the work that I'm doing know because it pays rather well and I have a wife and 4 kids to support.

But I AM going to Learn ALL of the Locksmith Trade but I'm going to have to do it in Sections.

Here you go http://www.locksmithtraining.com/courses.htm
Has lots of freely available information in a variety of topics. Definately more economical than paying for something. Tons of great information that you wont find here, like what the different finishes for locks are, and such. You may find you want to add locksmithing to what you do with construction (if i remember correctly), or specialize in home security in general. What most people don't realize is that you can have a half dozen Medeco Deadbolts on your door, and it means nothing if your windows/doors/etc arent properly installed.
