Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Cheers,
UWSDWF

Hi all. I have been an avid reader of this site for a while now even though I've only recently signed up. I am a property maintenence contractor in the UK for a local authority. Have been interested in locks & stuff for a long time & have started to look more closely at them in the last year or so. Having attended many evictions & vacant properties only to find that the Council sent 'Grant Mitchell' with a sledge hammer to open the door I started to purchase tools & practise like mad, figuring I might be able to persuade them to stop smashing doors down & earn myself a few extra quid as well. I seem to have cracked the standard 'YALE' type cylinders we get round here (although I don't profess to be an expert) & am now venturing into the world of mortice locks. These interest me far more as they require more skill (I think). I have a few mortice picking tools & am fairly proficient with ERA Pro-fits, Vicounts, Union Non-BS (Easy) & 3 levers. These seem to be the norm for this local authority. Would love to go on a course to learn more but finances are tight & I don't want to waste it on the wrong course! So far I get about 50% of the evictions & 'Grant' gets the other 50%. lmao. Hopefully now I'm registered I will be able to join this community & maybe learn some more.

Extract "Grant is known for his fiery temper and his tendency to resort to violence when things don't go his way".
Haha, you've met Grant! That's the guy who used to do our lock outs. He usually used the size 10 pick or sometimes when it was a real tricky pick he resorted to the 18lb lock cracker! Bless him.......
The Council are slowly seeing the error of his ways though so hopefully that means more lolly for me. Oh goody then I can go on a course.....
I help people out by helping them in.
